Mosaic, Pastiche or Bricolage? "Wrong" Illustrations 1

I've been spending a deal of time in the Huntington Library Rare Book Reading Room this last month. Looking for reader annotations mostly - there are very few, not too surprisingly in an elite collection. I've collected some images of illustrations along the way.

What's interesting is then the illustrations are "wrong."


Here's a first example from my own collection to start us off" George Virtue's 1850 London edition of PP Parts I and II.
